Classes Offered

Here is a listing of the classes/get-togethers that we currently offer.  More will be available as they are created.  All it takes to make a class work are two people signing up.  If you find a class that you would like to take, check the Class Schedule to see if it is available. If it is not scheduled at this time, find a friend that wants to take the class with you, give us a call, and we'll schedule it for the two of you.

If you have a friend that wants to take a class with you, we'd be happy to schedule a class for you.  Or, if you have a group of girls wanting to take a class, we'd be happy to schedule that for you, too.  Give us a call if you have any questions.  Because we have to plan for classes in advance, payment must be made in advance.  If you need to cancel a class, we need to know 1 week in advance.  There will be no refunds or credits given after that time, unless the class is cancelled. You are welcome to find someone to replace you, however.  Please be sure we know about the replacement.

Class Skill Levels

4D EMBROIDERY SOFTWARE, 2 hour class, $10.

        Learn how to make your own embroidery designs using this wonderful software.  There's a new class each month.  There is no charge for this class if you purchased your software from us.

BARGELLO, 6 hour class, $30. Photo

This is a fun and striking quilt to make. You can create all sorts of undulating patterns with your fabric choices.

BEGINNING REDWORK, 3 hour class, $15.  Photo

Learn the history, stitches, color of thread in this easy embroidery class.

BUILDING BLOCKS, 6 hour class, $25.  Photo

CONVERGENCE QUILTS, 6 hour class, $30.  Photo

Ricky Tims' Convergence Quilts. These quilts are mysterious, magical, easy and fun. Cut strips graduated widths and then sort into each other. Then stand back and see what happens.

COURT HOUSE STEPS, 6 hour class, $35. Photo

DAHLIA QUILT, 6 hour class, $25.

Let me help you learn easy template piecing.  You can make a dahlia quilt, a table topper or a Christmas Tree Skirt.

EMBROIDERY CLUB, 3 hour class, $10.

We're starting an embroidery club for people that own an embroidery machine.  Do you know what your embroidery machine can do?  If not, this class is bound to help you.  We'll learn a different technique in each class, so you'll want to come to them all.   You will need a way of transferring your designs to your Sewing Machine.  We will help if we can.  You'll learn many new embroidery techniques, including the use of stabilizers.  Usually meets the 2nd Saturday of each month,  This class is free if you purchased your machine from us.

HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES, 6 hour class, $25.

Learn how to make half-square triangles, and all of the ways you can put them together.  Great Beginner Class.

JUDY'S PAPER PIECING METHOD, two 4-hour classes, $35.

Instructor: Cathy Reitz

Learn how to paper piece using one of Judy Niemeyer's paper piecing patterns.  There are several patterns to choose from for this class.  Pre-printed foundation papers for each quilt are included in her patterns.

LEAVES WITH DESIGN CONCEPTS, 9 hour class, $45 Photo

A great way to use up your scraps, and you end up with very stunning quilt.

LOG  CABIN POSSIBILITIES, 9 hour class, $35. Photo

Beginning quilt class. We make the basic log cabin block and then discover all the possible ways of putting it together.

 

LONG ARM MACHINE QUILTING, 6 hour class, $50.

Instructor: Cathy Reitz

If you take this class you will be able to rent our long arm quilting machine and do your own quilts. We will cover loading the machine, and all the things you will need to know to do it on your own.

MACHINE APPLIQUÉ, 3 hour class, $15.

Instructor: Cathy Reitz

Bring your favorite appliqué pattern and we will practice appliqué on your sewing machine. Or reserve one of ours. Learn lots of new tricks and many different techniques.

 

MAKE FRIENDS WITH YOUR SERGER, all day class, maybe 2 days, $35

Instructor: Cathy Reitz

Are you afraid of your serger? Come to this class and find out how easy it really is so you can reap all the benefits of having a serger.    (instead of leaving it in the corner, collecting dust).  You will go home with a booklet that you will refer to often, showing you different settings for different fabrics.  The book, Make Friends with your Serger, will be required.  It will also be the best tool you've ever had for your serger. 

SEWING MACHINE QUILTING, 3-5 hour class, $25.

This class is a must for anyone who wants to venture into quilting their own projects. Cathy covers techniques, threads, batting and much more in this great class.

PFAFF PFUN CLUB, 2-3 hour class, $10.

Bring a project that you think would be fun and let's SEW or sew on the one we've got picked out for you!  I'll be on hand to help you out.

 

PEPPER DISH  2 4-hour classes $35 Photo

Learn Judy Niemeyer's paper piecing techniques.  You can choose to do either the Pepper Dish quilt or the Cactus Rose Quilt.  Come in to the store to see our sample!  It's a completely different look, but you'll like it, too!

PHOTOS AND LABELS ON FABRIC, 2 hour class, $15

Learn how to use your computer to print photos and labels for your quilts.

PLACE MATS, 2-3 hour class, $15.

Instructor: Cathy Reitz

This is a fast, fun class.  You will go home with at least 1 Place mat. Kids and grandkids love these!  I usually make them for all the holidays and put their names on them.  They think it's great!  Plus, you can then show your kids how to make them.

PLAYING WITH PINWHEELS, 6 hour class, $30. Photo

We've designed a new quilt and we're inviting you to come make it with us.  These pinwheels are 3-Dimentional and very easy to make.

STITCHER'S GARDEN,  $45.00  Photo

This is a block of the month type of quilt that utilizes the decorative stitches on your sewing machine.  You'll also get a chance to use different feet and we'll do some embellishing with ribbon, ric-rack, etc.  This quilt is so cute, you've got to come in and see the samples.

RAG TIME QUILT, 2 3-hour class, $25. Photo

This is a fun scrappy project so don't worry about colors or fabrics. It is not necessary to be "perfect" in cutting, pinning, or piecing as the frayed edges hide a multitude of sins.

STELLAR BEGINNINGS, two 4-hour classes, $35. Photo

This is a beginning quilt class. Bring normal sewing supplies for the class and at least 4 light and 4 dark fat quarters of fabric.

MEANDERING PATHS, two 4-hour classes, $35. Photo

In this class you will learn how to put colors together and the difference between light and dark fabrics, squaring up your blocks, how to use triangle paper or The Angler tool to make half-square triangles, getting your blocks from the design wall to your sewing machine.

 

Tradewinds, 6 hour class, $30. Photo

Come make this gorgeous quilt using batiks.  Its fast and fun!

 

TRADITIONS WITH A TWIST, two 4 hour classes, $45.

Instructors: Julie Allen and/or Cathy Reitz

In this class you will learn how to choose colors, pressing techniques, rotary cutting basics, and much more. You can actually make any of the quilts in the  book "Traditions with a Twist". You can also make the color wash Irish Chain, as the piecing techniques are the same.
